Mud Temperature Sensor

What is Mud Temperature Sensor

A robust but sensitive temperature measuring element placed in the drilling fluid to provide: Temperature IN, Temperature OUT and Indication of overpressured zones. Temperature sensors are usually placed in the suction pit (temperature IN) and in the flow line (temperature OUT). The differential values and the temperature gradient can be calculated to provide helpful information for locating transition zones and other geological boundaries.

Principle of Measurement

The sensor element is a platinum wire resistor encased in toughened glass and protected by a stainless steel sheath. Changes in temperature alter the resistance of the wire which is measured by the electronic processing equipment.

Output

Display, output and recording of the measurements is determined by the ALS computer processing equipment, according to a wide choice and range of formats.
